A ' NAUGHTY SPA THERAPY ' For Couples

Head to a spa for 'couple therapy' next time you decide to get naughty with your partner. Pooja Kulkarni tells you how to up the fun quotient on a date.

Our love lives would be boring without some spice in it. What say? A dose of mischief once in a while certainly adds that extra zing to relationships. If you're bored of the mundane ways to woo your partner and are game for trying something new, here's what you can do. Slip into a tubful of chocolate, soak your feet in wine or get drenched in a rain shower with your partner. If you want more, you can even massage, scrub, wrap, steam or shower together! Now before you start imagining things, we aren't suggesting any far off exotic holiday destination, but just some exciting couple therapies at city spas. Apart from leaving you amazingly rejuvenated, they are sure to tickle your 'love' senses.

Right from luxurious facials, hair therapies, manicures, pedicures and foot massages to full body treatments, there are plenty of options to connect you - mind, body, soul - with your partner. Whether young lovers keen on having some fun or old timers who want to rekindle the passion in their relationship, these treatments help a couple to connect deeply, believes therapist Colin Hall of a city-based hotel spa. "Couple therapies are stimulating and spiritually uplifting as they open up the mind and also your senses. So if your love life has been lagging or lacks spark because you've been married for long, opt for these because they work well on every problem," he says. With today's hectic routines, couples are left with minimum time for each other, so this can also be a good way to catch up. Spa treatments are a great way to unwind and spend some together time with your love, says salon and spa owner, Dharini Turakhia. "Not only do these revitalising techniques make the couple relax together, but they also can determine how their better half could look and feel even better."

Special treatments also require the use of special products. "To make the whole experience more sensual for the pair, we use stimulating oils like orange, peppermint, rose, lavender for massages for women and lemon grass or sandalwood for men. Scrubs in exotic flavours like coco, coffee, chocolate honey, almond or soya make it a yummy experience as well," informs Ijaz Sheikh, a spa manager.

Getting pampered and naughty together is not only a feel good experience, but a highly romantic one as well. "Being in a private room dressed in bare essentials with soft lighting and a team of dedicated therapists working on almost every organ of your body certainly arouses sensuality. To make it a complete experience for the couple, we leave them alone for a while in the steam or shower room at the end of it all so that they can take their feelings ahead if they wish to," chuckles Hall.

Usually couples unanimously settle on what treatments to go in for, but at times, they also like choosing the therapies for each other. Turakhia tells us, "Many guys ask their girls to go in for fruity flavoured scrubs or baths. But the ratio of girls deciding for guys is more. No matter how the guy looks like, every girl wants her man to come out looking like Brad Pitt after the treatment. So right from changing the hairstyle to indulging in other lavish treatments, they ask for it all."
